Top 5 RV Destinations in Manitoba

You don’t need to travel out-of-province for an epic RV road trip! Manitoba is a vast and beautiful province, so if you’re considering RVing right here, you’re in for a treat. While there are plenty of parks and campgrounds to choose from, here are a few of our favourite RV destinations in Manitoba for a truly memorable experience this summer.

1. Riding Mountain National Park

Located in the southwestern part of the province, Riding Mountain National Park is arguably Manitoba’s most popular and most beautiful National Park. It’s a vast area with diverse landscapes, beautiful lakes, rolling hills, and forests. Needless to say, the hiking trails are some of the most breathtaking you’ll find in Canada. If you like watching wildlife, their bison enclosure is probably your best bet to see some bison in the wild. The park is open all year round and is fully equipped with shops, resorts, restaurants, museums, and so much more. The Wasagaming Campground within the park provides RV-friendly campsites with full amenities and unserviced areas for a more ‘authentic’ camping experience.

2. Whiteshell Provincial Park

Situated in eastern Manitoba, about 120 km east of Winnipeg, Whiteshell Provincial Park is an easily accessible camping destination, known for its pristine lakes, rushing rivers, waterfalls, and boreal forests. Canoe through granite tunnels at Caddy Lake, hike the Whiteshelll River Bridge trail over the iconic Canadian Shield and the Whiteshell River suspension bridge, or scuba dive into West Hawk Lake, the deepest lake in the province. Campgrounds like Falcon Beach, Falcon Lakeshore, West Hawk Lake, Betula Lake, and Brereton Lake provide RV camping facilities with full-service amenities.

3. Spruce Woods Provincial Park

Located in the southwestern region of Manitoba, Spruce Woods Provincial Park boasts some of Manitoba’s most unique natural attractions, such as the Spirit Sands – a 4 sq km tract of desert-like dunes, and the Devil’s Punch Bowl – a distinctive pond formed by underground streams. Besides the many hiking trails and ponds, the park also offers horse-drawn covered wagon rides. The park has all kinds of amenities and hookups, and basically anything else you’ll need for a comfortable visit.

4. Grand Beach Provincial Park

In the middle of the summer heat, sometimes the last thing you want is to hike in the blistering sun. Sometimes, you want to go relax in Grand Beach Provincial Park instead! Situated on the eastern shores of Lake Winnipeg, Grand Beach Provincial Park is a go-to summer destination. It’s home to the province’s most beautiful white sandy beaches, clear waters, and tall grass-topped dunes. It’s the perfect place to stop for a relaxing day of swimming, sunbathing, or wind-surfing. The Grand Beach campground offers basic amenities, such as electric sites and waste disposal.

5. Birds Hill Provincial Park

Just 24 km outside Winnipeg, Birds Hill Provincial Park is the family-friendly getaway. Ranging from dense boreal forests to prairie flatlands to fields of wildflowers, the park offers a little bit of everything. It has both natural and paved trails (bring your bikes and rollerblades!), watersports, a riding stable, and even restaurants. There are interpretive programs all year round for groups of all ages, and they even host the Winnipeg Folk Fest every July if you want a truly unique experience. Their RV campsites have all the basics, including electrical, water, and sewer hookups.
